Prior to the Iftar event itself, PEERS organized
fund collection from all generous staffs of PED to be distributed to six
selected orphanage houses, which were Rumah Kasih Harmoni, Rumah Ilham, Rumah Titian
Kasih, Rumah Siraman Kasih, Pondok Penyayang Raudhah and Rumah Anak-anak Yatim
Syifa’. Total of RM10,255 has been raised from the effort. Good job and thank
you!
This Rumah Kasih Harmoni is located at Bandar
Country Homes Rawang, home for 40 orphanages aged 4 – 6 years old. We took the
opportunity to get to know each of the residents, altogether 33 kids and 5
caretakers joined the Iftar session. To lessen their burden to travel from
Rawang to KLCC, a chartered Kopetro bus was sent to pick them up from the
house.
The kids arrived around 4 pm with smiling faces and
the first destination to visit was the SkyBridge. Before we got up to higher
level of KLCC, the kids were given explanation on the science behind tall
buildings development at Twin Tower Exploration Centre. A booklet was given to
them containing info about Twin
Towers. We even got the
tourguide onsite to create the excitement by explaining how fast the lift is
traveling up, showing KL from level 41 of KLCC building, enjoying the view from
top and finally a group photo was taken to capture the unforgettable memory.
Afterwards it was time for Petronas Gallery (PG)
visit. The excitement continued with story telling and drawing session with Pak
Shukri and Abg Kamal (artist in resident in PG). The kids were also given a set
of children storybooks as a token. They jumped into happiness when receiving
the token and absolutely won’t forget the event.
After light ‘Buka Puasa’ and Maghrib prayer, the event
precedes with Iftar Session. The residents were treated with sumptuous meal
specially prepared for them. While enjoying the food, Mr. Chen delivered an
aspiring speech which followed by “Duit Raya” and door gift distribution from
PE & Petronas Gallery. Finally, the highlight of the night was cheque giveaway
to the house representative.
All too soon, it was time to leave. After a group
photo, we bid farewell to the lovely and adorable kids and residents. It was an
emotional moment when we sent them back to the bus with final wave, in the hope
to meet them in near future.
The experience with the kids was a very touching
and memorable one. It reminded us how fortunate we are to be here and never to
forget the unlucky one. Alhamdulillah, there was no glitch during the event and
everyone had a great time of their life.
Thank you to everyone that
has participated and contributed.
